Overview

About our post-construction cleaning service

When builders leave, a new house looks finished but is far from liveable. Cement and mortar splashes sit on floors and window frames, a thin grey haze of grout covers every tile, and fine construction dust has settled inside switchboards, sills and tracks. Ordinary mopping only turns this dust into a muddy film. Post-construction deep cleaning needs a different set of tools and a different order of work.

We start with dry removal: scraping hardened cement with blades held at a safe angle, then vacuuming the fine dust with machines built for it. Only after that do we use liquids, choosing grout-haze removers that suit your specific tiles. This prevents scratches on new flooring and avoids the streaky finish that comes from wetting construction dust too early.

Who books post-construction cleaning

Method

How we carry out post-construction cleaning

  1. Site inspection

We check floor types, the level of cement residue and whether water and electricity are available on site.

  2. Dry debris removal

Loose debris is bagged and heavy dust is vacuumed before any water is used.

  3. Scraping and residue removal

Hardened cement is scraped at a safe angle; grout haze is treated with a remover matched to the tile.

  4. Fixtures and glass

Windows, fittings and sanitaryware are cleaned of splashes, labels and protective tapes.

  5. Wet finish

Floors and walls are washed and machine-scrubbed until no grey film comes off on a white cloth.

Good to know

Why construction dust needs special handling

Construction dust contains very fine cement and silica particles. Wiping it with a wet cloth creates a slurry that dries as a film, and sweeping it puts it straight back into the air. We vacuum first with machines rated for fine dust and keep crew in masks throughout.

Grout haze is the cloudy layer left when tile joints are filled. It cannot be mopped away, but harsh acids can damage some tiles and coloured grout. We test a small area first and choose the gentlest remover that works.

FAQ

Questions about post-construction cleaning

Payment, rescheduling and safety answers that apply to post-construction cleaning as well as our other services are in the general FAQ.

When should post-construction cleaning be done?

After all civil, electrical, plumbing and carpentry work is complete, and before furniture is moved in. Cleaning earlier means doing it twice.

Can you remove cement stains from tiles and granite?

Yes. We scrape hardened cement carefully and use residue removers suitable for the surface. Very old or deeply set stains may only lighten.

Do you take away construction debris?

We bag the fine and loose debris generated during cleaning. Removal of large construction waste like broken tiles or rubble needs separate arrangement.

Is water and power needed on site?

Yes. Our machines need a power point and we need running water for the final wash. Please tell us if either is limited.
