The new-furniture smell and how to reduce it
New boards, laminates and adhesives release odours for several weeks. Cleaning cannot remove them instantly, but ventilation and wiping surfaces with a mild solution helps the smell fade much faster. We leave wardrobes open and windows ajar where safe, and advise you how long to keep doing it.
We also recommend not storing clothes or food in new cabinets until they have aired for a day or two. Our team wipes them inside first so they are clean when you are ready to fill them.
